The Wild Tea of the South! Hailing from the same botanical family as Yerba Mate and Guayusa, Yaupon Holly is an antioxidant rich super-leaf that grows wild in the southern United States, where we hand-pick the leaves, dry and roast them, just as Native Americans did for thousands of years. When brewed as a tea, Yaupon provides a healthy boost from caffeine and theobromine, the same beneficial compounds found in dark chocolate. Yaupon Tea was used as both a traditional medicine and social beverage by native tribes who lived in the southeastern region of North America. The tea was believed to cleanse the body and mind and was thus referred to as “Asi” which means “The Purifier”.
